Scouting
Kevin started his scouting career as a Cub Scout in Pack 200, Seelyville, Indiana culminating in the Arrow of Light award and crossing over to Boy Scout Troop 200 also in Seelyville and finishing in Boy Scout Troop 139 in Sullivan Indiana where he earned the Eagle Scout award in 1996 in the the Wabash Valley Council which later merged with Crossroads of America Council in 2002. He had the distinction of serving as Post Vice-President for Law Enforcement Explorer Post 139 sponsored by the Sullivan County Indiana Sheriffs Department. Following the completion of his youth activities he served as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 139 for a period of time before continuing his career in the U.S. Army.
Kevin earned his Wood Badge Beads as a member of the Buffalo Patrol of course C6-160-17-2. He went on to serve on staff as Troop Guide for C6-160-19-2, Quartermaster for C6-21-2, and Assistant Scoutmaster for 9-160-22-3. He is also a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow awarded by Kickapoo Lodge #128 in which he had the pleasure to serve as the Lodge Vice-Chief. The lodge later merged and is now Jaccos Towne Lodge #22. He was honored to attended both the 1995 World Jamboree (Holland) and the 1997 National Jamboree. The later in which he served as the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. Other national level experiences he was able to participate in was a Philmont Scout Ranch backcountry trek, attending the 1996 National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) and graduating the National Leadership Seminar. He is proud to have served as the Assistant Scoutcraft Director at Camp Krietenstein in 1997. Click here to see pictures from the 1995 World Jamboree, 1997 National Jamboree, and Philmont. Kevin has been awarded the Robert. E. Burt Boy Scout Volunteer Award by the National Society Sons of the American Revolution, the Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award, the District Award of Merit by the Hou Koda District, the Cubmaster Key, the Scouter Training Award (at both the Troop and Pack level), the God and Service Adult religious award, the Den Leader Training Award and has been made both a James E. West Fellow and a NESA Legacy Fellow. Kevin serves on the national level as a member of the NSSAR Eagle Comittee as well as the State Chairman of the Indiana SAR Eagle Scout Commitee. |
